Are you ready for an out of this world dining experience? Well, if you are, Space 220 is right up your alley!
This restaurant is in Epcot near Mission: Space and also has a lounge. If you want to eat here, the menu is a prix fixe style and requires reservations on the dining room side. There are some amazing things about this restaurant and I’m excited to share a little of my experience with you!
One of the things that makes Space 220 stand out to me is the theming. If there is one thing that Disney Imagineers do a smashing job with it’s the theming.
Space 220 is the perfect example of this. When you first walk into the building and check in, they give you a ticket to ride the “stellervator” or the space elevator. This is the way you get into outer space for your meal! It is so fun to watch Walt Disney World disappear below as you feel like you go further into the sky.
Looking up into space as you pull into the station is pretty cool too! When you arrive at the top there is so much to see! While you are here, make sure you watch the windows looking out because there are so many fun things floating by the Centauri Space Station like astronauts space walking and some other surprises. Even the signs for the bathrooms are fun!
The food here is good! We were here for a lunch reservation, which included a Lift-Off (appetizer) and a Star Course (entree), but you can order dessert a la carte if you’d like. Desserts are included if you are here for dinner.
I had the Calamari appetizer and it was incredibly tasty! I would definitely order it again. The included sauces, especially the roasted citrus pepper aioli, were part of what made it so good to me.
My daughter had a good salad and the dressing had a tasty little kick to it. For our entrees she got a cheeseburger with fries and I got pasta with shrimp. We enjoyed our entrees and there was enough food that we couldn’t finish everything. The fries were really yummy and the pasta had a yummy cream sauce.
We also tried some of the specialty drinks. We tried one of the mocktails and one of the cocktails, and they were both really good. The mocktail was called “Moon Rocks” and had cotton candy and pop rocks! If you are craving something sweet, this one’s for you!
If you are bringing your kids, the mocktails come with cool Space 220 collecting cards as well! I got a Stratosphere Strawberry Lemonade and it had a lovely taste with a little basil undertone.
Another thing we love about Disney is the ability to eat gluten free, and Space 220 is no exception. There are lots of options!
The biggest drawback of Space 220 is the cost, especially considering the restaurant is inside a park, so you are also paying for your time there during the day. It costs $55 per adult for lunch and $79 for dinner. This does not include your specialty drinks like cocktails and mocktails. If you are thinking the food should be phenomenal for that cost and you aren’t interested in the theming, this restaurant might not be for you.
If you have a family member who is a space fan, or you love slowing down and would like to see the space elevator and enjoy the Disney theming, it could be a lot of fun for you. For my family, we did enjoy it! I will probably visit again and have family that didn’t get to try it yet. We love places where the theming sets it apart and gives us that extra experience. No matter what, when you visit Walt Disney World you are bound to have fun!
